Ever stand next to a diesel truck idling curbside and wonder why someone doesn’t turn it off? Now diesel truck and bus drivers will have to shut them down thanks to limits set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
In an effort to reduce toxic diesel emissions, the new rule prohibits diesel trucks and buses from idling for more than five minutes. More than 200 tons of diesel soot are spewed into the air each year due to excessive idling.
