Lung Health News, Fall 2004 / Winter 2005
As scientists around the world agree global warming is a serious threat to public health, the American Lung Association of California is taking action in this state, advocating for stronger measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming and uniting health groups in the effort.
The American Lung Association of California is the first Lung Association to develop a position statement on global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. Californians already breathe some of the dirtiest air in the nation and global warming will only make matters worse.
The association formed the Health Network for Clean Air to advocate for air quality issues that impact health, including global warming. Network members recently testified before the California Air Resources Board (CARB) about the health risks of global warming and urged the board to require automakers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
