Lung Health News, Fall 2003 / Winter 2004
Starting January 1, 2004, Californians will be able to enter public buildings without having to breathe in secondhand smoke thanks to Assembly Bill 846 (Vargas, D-San Diego), which prohibits smoking within 20 feet of entryways, exits, and windows. The American Lung Association of California actively supported the measure, which covers state, county, and city buildings, as well as buildings on campuses in the state's University of California, California State University and California Community Colleges systems.
