Lung Health News, Fall 2007 / Winter 2008
Two key experiences have given Santa Rosa resident Jack Caslin a profound appreciation of the relationship between air quality and lung health, moving him to include the American Lung Association of California in his estate plans.
When the retired bank branch manager moved to Sonoma County from Foster City 12 years ago, the cleaner air improved his chronic bronchitis to the point he was able to quit using his inhalers. Next, a visit to Bangkok and Laos, where residents often wear masks to protect themselves from air pollution, caused Caslin serious breathing difficulties, convincing him of the need to do more to improve air quality for everyone.
As his legacy, he wants to see the American Lung Association of California’s efforts to clean up our air continue, especially the association’s campaign to reduce wood smoke pollution and vehicle emissions.
“The American Lung Association is doing a superb job,” he says. “I’ve always believed in their work and what they are trying to do. It is one of my favorite organizations.”
