The California Tuberculosis Controllers Association is a project of the American Lung Association of California. The organization is funded by the state of California and brings together TB controllers and public health professionals to focus on effective strategies and best practices for eradicating TB.
The association works with the American Lung Association of California to raise awareness about the serious threat TB poses in California, especially new drug-resistant strains, and encourage policymakers to adequately fund programs aimed at stopping the spread of the contagious disease. This effort is underscored on World TB Day (March 24) each year, when we publicly call on state leaders to invest in TB programs. The California Tuberculosis Controllers Association provides county-by-county TB statistics and other data that give a clear picture of the TB threat in our state.
The California Tuberculosis Controllers Association holds an educational conference every spring focused on the latest techniques for diagnosing, preventing and treating TB. The conference addresses a number of related issues each year, including drug-resistant strains, airline travel with TB, and lack of adequate state funding. Continuing education credits are provided.
In addition, the association develops guidelines, fact sheets and other tools for TB controllers and public health professionals. Learn more.
